“More than 6 million people watched Matt Smith being unveiled as the new Doctor Who on BBC1 on Saturday 3 January, beating ITV1’s live coverage of Liverpool’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Preston North End. Doctor Who Confidential, which also included a look back at the lives of the 10 doctors so far, averaged 6.1 million viewers, 30% of the audience, between 5.35pm and 6.10pm, according to unofficial overnight figures.” [Link]
