Shazam! Director Peter Segal To Do Captain Marvel Movie
“Warner Bros. has staked ‘Get Smart’ director Peter Segal and his Callahan Filmworks partner Michael Ewing to a three-year first-look deal. As part of the deal, WB has also acquired the John August-scripted ‘Captain Marvel’; Segal will direct the DC Comics adaptation. He and Ewing began working on the film two years ago at New Line, but the property has moved over to WB. Rocketeer Creator Dave Stevens Dead From Leukemia
News broke yesterday that Dave Stevens, creator of The Rocketeer and Bettie Page fan, has died following a long fight with leukemia. Stevens, whose geek credentials include a stint working on Hanna Barbera’s Super Friends and Godzilla cartoons in the late ’70s, made his name creating The Rocketeer in 1982. [Link]
