Murder Suspect Steven Kelsey To Be Examined In Feb.

“Steven Kelsey will appear in 52-1 District Court on Thursday, Feb. 19 for a preliminary examination on murder charges stemming from his sister Jesika Kelsey’s stabbing death, after waiving a preliminary exam on Wednesday, Jan. 7. According to Michael McCarthy, Kelsey’s court-appointed defense attorney, a decision hasn’t been made on whether Steven Kelsey will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.” [Link]

“Visitation began this morning for 17-year-old Jesika Kelsey, found stabbed to death in a bedroom of her home in nearby Highland Township on Jan. 1. Her 19-year-old brother, Steven Michael Kelsey, has been charged in the slaying and has reportedly made statements implicating he killed his sister when she rejected sexual advances. Steven Kelsey was a soldier home on leave from Army boot camp at Fort Jackson. Kelsey’s army dog tags were found at the scene of Jesika Kelsey’s murder.
