It is a preliminary step on what is likely a long road to any regular 3-D broadcasts of football games. The idea is a ‘proof of concept,’ says Howard Katz, NFL senior vice president of broadcasting and media operations. ‘We want to demonstrate this and let people get excited about it and see what the future holds.’” [Link]

The 36-year-old Dilfer started six games for the 49ers last season, passing for 1,166 yards with seven touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 55.1 passer rating before being lost for the season with a concussion. That’s not exactly the profile of a guy who’s going to be a highly sought free agent. But Dilfer may have a job offer that would allow him to play another season without having to move his family. The Fresno Bee reports that Dilfer said today that the Oakland Raiders are showing interest in signing him. Dilfer was speaking at Easter services at Northside Christian Church in Clovis, California, when he said the Raiders have expressed interest. The church is near Fresno State University, where Dilfer was a star quarterback, and the Bee reports that some in the church cheered.
